Grand Opening of Strack and Van Til | Living In Plainfield
Apr 13th, 2007 by Julie
I knew better than taking 4 young children to the grocery store… that it was a bad idea!
Actually it wasn’t horrible, just very crowded! So was the McDonald’s that share’s the entrance with this plaza.
I guess everyone in the area decided to spend their day the same way. Plainfield IL schools were only in attendance for a half day today because of teacher conferences. The entrance to the plaza from Rte. 59 was backed up all the way to Caton Farm Rd.
When we walked inside we were amazed! There wasn’t one recognizable square inch of the former Cub Foods location.
Waiting for today… was like being a 7 year old waiting for Christmas. And going there was like going to Disneyland for this grocery store junkie!
They have great prices and they have a really great staff.
I saw some familiar faces today and talked with some of the former Cub Foods employees. I “checked out” with Rafael, one of Strack and Van Til’s part-time employees.
I said, ” You look familiar.. you were from the old store weren’t you?” He said, “yes“, and “that he had taken some time off while the store was being remodeled to concentrate on school at Joliet Junior College.
It seems like Strack and Van Til had a very successful Grand Opening! I bought 3 gallons of milk for $5 today! In the Ferenzi household… that is a great deal!
Most of the managers have relocated from Indiana to help launch the new Illinois store. Mark Riccardi is the manager of the location in Plainfield IL.
If you get a chance… stop by the new store.
If nothing else the ladies giving out samples will be well worth your trip!
